Silver Star Restaurant & Cantina

The place to be for Tex-Mex cuisine

The Silver Star brand has been around for years, known best for their delicious au gratin potatoes, their smoked meats and one of the best outdoor concert venues in the region. The newest Silver Star restaurant, Silver Star Cantina, is in Bossier City at the corner of Airline Drive and Texas Street. If you love Tex-Mex food, Silver Star Cantina is the place to be.

Cantina Rita – Jalapeno tequila, fresh cucumber, lime and Agave together to make a tasty margarita with a spicy kick.

Grapefruit Paloma – Blanco tequila, fresh grapefruit, lime and Agave together to make a refreshing grapefruit cocktail.

Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini – If margaritas aren’t your thing, try this twist on a classic cocktail.

Silver Star Queso – Their famous au gratin cheese blend with a Mexican twist, topped with pico de gallo. You can also add smoked brisket or pulled pork to the queso. So, if you've had the au gratin potatoes at one of the other Silver Star locations, it is the incredible cheese from those in a bowl for you to dip. And while you can dip with their regular seasoned tortilla chips, this appetizer comes with special dipping chips.

Guacamole Fresca – Avocado mash mixed with diced onion, tomato, jalapeno, cilantro, and lime, garnished with roasted corn and queso fresca. This appetizer also comes with special dipping chips.

Chimichanga – Flour tortilla stuffed with your choice of meat, then deep-fried with a side of sauce. You can choose from grilled chicken with sour cream sauce, pulled pork with ranchero sauce, smoked brisket with salsa Verde, or steak tenderloin with salsa Verde. If you’re adventurous like me, get the tenderloin and have it topped with queso instead. You won’t be disappointed. All their entrees come with rice and beans, but you can upgrade one of your sides to tortilla soup, which I would highly recommend.

Chile Relleno – Roasted poblano pepper filled with jack cheese and meat choice: grilled chicken with sour cream sauce, pulled pork with ranchero sauce, smoked brisket with salsa Verde, or steak tenderloin with salsa Verde.

Churros with Nutella – This is one of the best desserts in town. You don’t get a better combination than a crispy churro dipped in the chocolatey goodness of Nutella.

Key Lime Pie – Just the right amount of zesty lime with a delicious graham cracker crust, topped with whipped cream.

What I would try next time:

Wagyu Carne Asada – Wagyu beef skirt steak on a bed of veggies served with chimichurri sauce, refried beans and rice.

Cantina Au Gratin Potatoes – It’s a large serving of their legendary potatoes, topped with pulled pork or grilled chicken, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. You can even add smoked brisket, sautéed lump crab meat or tenderloin.
