On Oct. 19 the local chapter of Ainsley’s Angels, a group of families with special needs kids, had a fun run in Kings Crossing. Captain Shreve High School was a sponsor with student assistance being provided during the event. A team of residents put together snacks, drinks and fellowship. – Mary Ann Van Osdell

The Caddo-Bossier Cancer Foundation League held its annual wine and cheese membership party at Fairfield Manor on Nov. 5. The group is dedicated to making life easier for patients undergoing treatment for cancer. The league provides such assistance as transportation, lodging and personal items. They will also be creating Christmas baskets for patients. Its annual Kentucky Derby fundraiser will be May 2. – Mary Ann Van Osdell

Churches and non-profi ts joined efforts to put on the 12th Annual Mission Marketplace Nov. 1-2 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Fair-trade items were featured, including foods and beverages, jewelry, pottery, woven baskets, candles, scarves, dolls, soaps, purses and Christmas items from artisans. – Mary Ann Van Osdell
