• Pure Color Salon, owned by Meredith Mighell, is open. Pure Color is an environmentally conscience salon featuring the Davines Brand for sustainable beauty. The salon is specializing in modern color techniques and now offering spa services including eyelash extensions by Allie Anderson, an esthetician specialist doing Novalash eye lash extensions. • Two of the region’s forestry management consulting businesses, Bird Forestry and The Crawford Forestry Group, have merged to create Bird & Crawford Forestry, a division of Advanced Ecology, Ltd. Mike Bird and Sam D. Crawford will serve as principals of this new consulting venture. The new company will provide a full range of quality, professional forest management services supported by the latest GIS/GPS technology and database management systems. Bird & Crawford Forestry is among the leading independent forestry consulting businesses in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi, serving private and commercial landowners, timberland investment firms, timber industry clients and public lands.

• Centenary President David Rowe recently announced the appointment of Calhoun Allen as the new associate vice president of marketing and communication. His tenure began March 1. Allen comes to Centenary with 12 years of experience in higher education and 17 years in marketing. He most recently served in a number of leadership roles at Franklin University Switzerland, an American liberal arts university in Lugano, Switzerland, that is recognized as a leader in international education. Allen came to Franklin in the fall of 2001 as executive in residence in international management with the responsibility of developing a strong marketing curriculum for the university. After a rewarding four-year teaching experience, Allen had the opportunity of contributing in a number of senior-level marketing leadership positions, helping guide Franklin’s marketing efforts strategically as well as overseeing the implementation of communication initiatives in support of all areas of the college.

• Williams Financial Advisors announced the addition of two highly experienced advisors to their private wealth management group. Steve Carney has over 15 years in the industry within the investment group of a major national bank. Dany Martin has over six years within that same group.
