Prize Fest will bring people from all over the country to the best party on the planet right here in Shreveport on Oct. 4 - 8. The series of competitions spanning four days will include 20 films, 12 emerging music artists from across the country and 11 chefs, five of whom are locals who will battle it out for The Golden Fork in an epic showdown.

The 42nd Annual Red River Revel Arts Festival will open on Saturday, Sept. 30, and will run through Oct. 7 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. The Revel is now the largest outdoor arts festival in northern Louisiana, attracting more than 120,000 visitors annually.

“Shreveport has long been a nationally recognized hub for research and innovation, and this series will expose scientists and innovators to the tools of entrepreneurship and successful commercialization,” said Annella Nelson, assistant vice chancellor for research development at LSU Health.

You can help Give Breast Cancer the Boot! at the 23rd Annual Susan G. Komen Northwest Louisiana Race for the Cure (the Race), Saturday, Sept. 30, at CenturyLink Center in Bossier City. Registration is now available online at komennorthlouisiana.org. Thousands are expected to participate.

The 14 annual Highland Jazz & Blues Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the historic Highland neighborhood’s Columbia Park in Shreveport. With two stages of music and 70 food and art vendors, this free festival is a gift to the community from the Highland Area Partnership.

Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) unveiled its new Nursing and Allied Health Building last Thursday with a ribbon-cutting and open house. The new building, designed with the latest in health technology and education, is located on the northwest corner of the Cyber Innovation Center’s property (closest to Highway 80) at 6220 East Texas St.
